Sunshine Coast

There’s nothing like going to the beach on a gorgeous, sunny day - even in winter. Well, when I say winter, I live in Brisbane, so it’s pretty mild.

On this particular weekend, myself, and a few friends went up to Coolum and the iconic Eumundi markets, which aren’t too far away from Noosa, on Queensland’s gorgeous Sunshine Coast. The markets themselves aren’t that easy to photograph - especially on a sunny day. There’s too much contrast, not to mention the number of people!

So, once we’d explored the markets, we decided that it was such a beautiful day, that the beach beckoned! I wished I’d brought my SLR, as I’d compromised the space in my bag and only brought my Canon S80, which is great, but in high contrast situations, can sometimes fall a little short.

On such a sunny day as this I like to use a polarising filter, which I can’t use on the compact S80. But, I didn’t end up needing it - the photos aren’t washed out, and didn’t even need much tweaking in Photoshop. Having the wide angle, even in the compact camera is fantastic - I’m extremely happy I sacrificed size for the wide angle!
