Neighbourhood Fireworks Photos

Published by Alpha Murgev at 1:00 am under General

Staying home on a Saturday night can sometimes be a good thing - especially when an impromptu fireworks display begins!

I had a great vantage point from my balcony, and as soon as I saw them, I raced back inside, grabbed my camera, telephoto lens, tripod, and shutter release cable (all within easy reach, thankfully), and started taking photos.

Fireworks are difficult enough to photograph, and as I wasn’t prepared for this, I just put my camera on f5.6, and turned the shutter speed to “bulb” setting, and began snapping away!

Oh, and the lens I changed to Manual Focus. It was all pretty rushed, and I had no idea how long the fireworks were going to go on for. As soon as I was set up, they seemed to stop. But, it was just a break, so when they began again I was pretty much ready to go!

This is the only photo that sort of came out. It isn’t in sharp focus, but you get the idea:

It was certainly something different. I haven’t ever seen fireworks that clearly from my balcony. Hopefully if they happen again, I can be faster and more prepared!
