Beautiful One Day, Perfect The Next

This is how Queensland Tourism describes Queensland.  This is especially true in Northern Queensland - up near the Whitsunday Islands.

Recently, a friend got married and “unfortunately” she held her wedding up in Mackay at a place called Dolphin Heads Resort.

Coming from a busy daily grind, I instantly felt more relaxed as soon as I got off the plane and felt the cool, yet balmy tropical breeze.  The resort is right on the ocean, and here are some of the views…

You could do some serious sun damage on these deck chairs:

Now, in case you get bored with sitting around doing nothing but relaxing, and you feel like some physical exertion, here is an option - volleyball amongst the palm trees - look out for falling coconuts!:

It was such a bright and sunny day that I really needed my polarising filter.  It was still tricky to get the ocean nicely exposed, while making sure the trees in the foreground weren’t completing under exposed.  Fill flash wouldn’t even have worked in this situation.  So, I took a middle ground.

Here is one of the resort pool - pity it was a little too chilly to swim in (yes, I’m a wuss and have been living in a warm climate for too long!):

So, after a brief respite from the busy day-to-day, it was back to the grind!  Gotta love holidays…
